Postdoctoral in Experimental Nuclear Structure, Reactions and Astrophysics
We have an immediate availability for a postdoctoral associate in low-energy nuclear experimental physics at Rutgers University. Professor Jolie Cizewski is leading efforts to use radioactive ion beams at U.S. accelerator facilities to measure nuclear reactions to inform nuclear structure and the synthesis of nuclei in the cosmos. She collaborates closely with scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
The successful candidate will become part of a team of scientists using transfer reactions to study properties of unstable nuclei of interest to both nuclear structure and astrophysics and would be expected to contribute to efforts to develop new hardware and/or software techniques and detector systems. Rutgers led the development of the ORRUBA array of position-sensitive silicon strip detectors that is being coupled to arrays a gamma-ray detectors including Gammasphere, GRETINA and the newly commissioned HAGRID array of LaBr scintillator detectors.
