Burst Environment, Reactions and Numerical Modelling Workshop 2018 (BERN18)
There is a new impetus in efforts to reconcile thermonuclear burst observations and models, and also incorporate in more detail the nuclear physics inputs. At the same time, new experimental data is becoming available, that is challenging our existing understanding of burst physics.
This meeting is envisaged to offer those already in the field a forum to present new results and work on ongoing projects, but also for young scientists and students to improve their background understanding and present their work to a specialist audience. This workshop, supported by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics Centre for the Evolution of the Elements (JINA-CEE) and the Monash Centre for Astrophysics (MoCA), will bring together observers, numerical modelers, and nuclear experimentalists, from all over the world. We seek to encourage dialogue between different groups, to enhance collaboration and help improve our understanding of these dynamic events. The workshop will provide particular support to enable attendance by young scientists including PhD students.
