Accelerator Engineer, Physics and Astronomy
The Edwards Accelerator Laboratory (EAL) at Ohio University is seeking an Accelerator Engineer to support our low energy nuclear physics program. Primary responsibilities of this position will include maintaining the EAL’s 4.5 million volt tandem pelletron and associated systems, including the data acquisition electronics and computers, as well as instructing students, faculty, and outside researchers in the safe operation of this equipment. The position will require 24 hour on-call availability for emergency problem diagnosis and repairs. Candidates must hold a degree in physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field with at least three years of relevant experience.
The local research program at the EAL consists of low energy nuclear physics experiments in the realms of nuclear astrophysics, applications, and structure, along with materials science questions that can be addressed using ion beam analysis.
