We are organizing an international workshop on Nuclear Statistical Physics in Astrophysics and Nuclear Applications (NuSPANA). Nuclear reaction data is one of the key elements in nuclear applications ranging from simulating nucleosynthesis in stellar modeling to performance validation in nuclear energy and nuclear security. Experimental effort in the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) is focused on neutron-induced reactions, in close collaboration with reaction theory development and continuous progress on cross-section evaluations at LANL. The University of Notre Dame- Nuclear Science Laboratory, along with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics (JINA), has a long-standing expertise in applying nuclear statistical models to  nuclear reaction rates, in order to better understand nucleosynthesis processes and improve agreement between astrophysical modeling and astronomical observations. The University of Notre Dame has a dedicated program on studying charged particle induced reactions on stable nuclei and rare isotopes. This meeting will bring together developers and users of nuclear statistical models in the fields of nuclear application and astrophysics. The purpose is to showcase recent highlights in both fields,  review current theoretical and experimental efforts, identify areas in need of development, and to outline strategies and directions for the next decade nuclear data activity.
