Marsh Intermediate ND Field trip (Opens in a new window)
Students from St Pius spent the day at Notre Dame learning about science with various campus groups. They learned about circuits and electricity through an Art 2 Science activity with JINA-CEE
Northern Indiana Regional Science Fair (Opens in a new window)
250 students participated in the regional science fair. JINA-CEE provides judges for the regional fair as well as some local school fairs. We also provide prizes to support physics, astronomy, and scientific curiosity.

Hamilton Family Science Night (Opens in a new window)
JINA students led families through a variety of experiments and Art 2 Science activities
Science Alive (Opens in a new window)
Science Alive transforms the entire Library into a whirlwind of activity and jaw-dropping performances. Curious kids won't want to miss a day of hands-on activities and jaw-dropping performances.
JINA-CEE fills the Storytime Room on the 3rd floor with a variety of hands-on activities and demos related to nuclear physics and astronomy.
Science Alive (Opens in a new window)
JINA-CEE has filled the Storytime room at Science Alive with hands-on activities since 2010. We are considered one of the staple exhibitors. We have also contributed to the 27 year old program by instituting a "passport" to encourage children to see multiple exhibits, and donating camp certificates for the associated raffle. We have also held exhibitor receptions in the past to support networking among science educators.

Gina Duggan from Caltech gives an online seminar "Galactic Chemical Evolution Model Provides Quantitative Constraints on the r-process in Dwarf Galaxies"
Countdown to Science Alive (Opens in a new window)
Have you ever seen a fish fly? Create your own flying fish from a motor and household objects with scientists from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics (JINA-CEE). Children will learn problem solving skills while building their own toy to take home! For ages 8-12. Registration required through the library.

Eclipse Viewing (Opens in a new window)
Come experience a unique astronomical phenomenon with St. Joseph County Parks; the rare ‘Super Blood Wolf Moon’ Total Lunar Eclipse! The park will open at 9:30 pm and staff will lead a leisurely night hike as we prepare for the lunar eclipse. Those not interested in hiking bring your camp chairs and blankets and sit by the fire. We will have physicists and astronomers on site with telescopes to explain this spectacular event.
This event is weather conditions permitting.

Mini-PAN (Opens in a new window)
A half-day event, this introduced more than 50 high school physics students in LCC’s Early College to the field of nuclear astrophysics. It included hands-on lessons regarding isotopes, nuclear reactions, and neutron capture. Graduate students gave brief explanations of their research and highlighted their own paths that led to JINA-CEE.
Outreach: Mini-PAN at LCC Early College (Opens in a new window)
This half-day program will bring nuclear astrophysics to over 80 high school students. Using hands-on models and simple theory calculations, they will be introduced to rare isotope production, neutron capture processes, and current JINA-CEE research.

A. Alikhanian National Physics Laboratory Open House (Opens in a new window)
On September 29th 2018, Armenian physicists were joined by German, British, and American education teams for the first public outreach event at the A. Alikhanian National Physics Laboratory in Yerevan. Over 500 school children arrived on buses from all over the country through support from the Ministry of Education. They were joined by families, other members of the public, and the Minister of Education himself, as all were inspired by the physics demonstrations and hands-on activities.
