Neutrino Day was in Lead, South Dakota on July 12, 2014. This was an annual free science festival at SURF, Homestake Visitor Center, and downtown Lead. There were science exhibits and talks, surface campus tours of SURF, and other activities. Website

DIANA chooses Sanford Lab -- The DIANA scientific collaboration has chosen Sanford Lab as the preferred site for the Dual Ion Accelerators for Nuclear Astrophysics (DIANA) experiment, led by University of Notre Dame (UND) Physics Professor Michael Wiescher. In addition to UND, the DIANA collaboration includes researchers from MSU, UNC, WMU, Colorado School of Mines, and LBNL, as well as from a number of researchers from European Institutions.

The 13th annual international workshop on Next Generation Nucleon Decay and Neutrino Detectors was hosted by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory from Oct. 4- 6, 2012 in Batavia, IL, USA. Website



International Workshops on Accelerator Alignment (IWAA) took place on September 10-14, 2012 at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, IL, USA. IWAA are normally held every two years at particle accelerator laboratories around the world. Details



DIANA hunts for neutrons -- Researchers from the Dual Ion Accelerators for Nuclear Astrophysics Project set up portable Helium 3 counters on the 4100 Level of the Sanford Lab to measure neutron backgrounds. Details



The 4th International Summer School on Neutrino Physics (INSS2012), co-hosted by Virginia Tech and Fermilab, took place at Virginia Tech's Center for Neutrino Physics in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA from July 10 to 21, 2012.   Website



The annual meeting of the DUSEL Research Association (DuRA) was held at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory on January 19-20, 2012. The tentative agenda anticipates presentations on the future of the South Dakota laboratory, overviews of underground research around the world, and developments in underground research in the U.S.



The AGU Fall Meeting was held in San Francisco from December 5 to 9, 2011. It is the largest worldwide conference in the geophysical sciences, attracting nearly 20,000 Earth and space scientists, educators, students, and policy makers. This meeting showcases current scientific theory focused on discoveries that benefits humanity and ensure a sustainable future for our planet.   Website

The 12th International Congress on Rock Mechanics, with workshop WS-5 on Networks of underground research laboratories for international disciplinary innovations took place in Beijing, China, Oct. 18-21, 2011.   More information



Third International Workshop on Baryon and Lepton Number Violation (BLV-2011) took place in Gatlinburg (Edgewater Hotel), Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee on September 22-24, 2011. The Workshop purpose is to discuss state of the art of B,L, and B-L violation search, stimulate experimental and theoretical developments in this area, and attract new and young researchers to this field.   Website
